I am sorry that you all have issues with 1and1. My experience has been so different. Hundreds of sites for clients and myself, shared and managed accounts...over the last 5 years. Best host (other than my own server) that I have used and I make my living keeping small business clients happy. Like all hosts - they have quirks, but I do not mind having to fax signatures for certain changes. I don't get domains from any hosting company - that's just a bad idea - they all are difficult to deal with on that point. I have had nightmare hosts so I feel your pain. I am so happy that I found 1and1 - for me (and my clients) - they have been wonderful.

I'm having the unfortunate 24-hour dns change experience right now and found your site as a result. I've dealt with many registrars over the years and have never seen anything like this before - and to think I nearly bought some hosting from them as well! I just hope that they don't make it difficult to move my domain away from them when it's up for renewal as I won't go anywhere near 1&1 again.

Believe me when I tell you, in my opinion 1&1 is the absolute worst domain-hosting and registrar service in the WORLD. In my opinion they will lie to you, steal from you and keep stealing from you, over and and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until you are sick and tired of their thievery and then they will keep on stealing from you. Their email is a joke, their systems are old and useless, designed to get you the opposite of efficiency - designed to waste your time and money - set up to trick you. BBB lists them as UNSATISFACTORY. Check out www.bbb.org. RUN from 1&1. I recommend that no one ever uses them! Piss poor excuse for a company. Zero credibility. Zero.

I personally had, and am having a horrific time with 1&1 Internet. I got charged for service, yet never received any. Infact, they mess-up my Outlook so bad, I could not recover my contact data. I told them about it, they inturn gave me credit...only to charge me again way after I terminated my one month old account that Never worked. They kept trying to debit my checking account. No calls to them ever worked. They are rude and unprofessional. Different people get your email and no one ever seems to know what the other is doing. I had to pay $$ to get my bank to block the auto debit. I had to take time to type a hefty chronical letter as to why I needed the bank to do this....now they are taking me to collections, for $18.95 for a month of service which I did not receive. If I pay it, they take my account to continue to bill automatically...I'm hopeing with the information Kelli J. Jack has collected I can join in a Class Action Suit against this outfit!

1 & 1 Internet is a horrible company, but some recourse is possible! Not only am I a very disgruntled customer after they lied to me repeatedly after reselling a name I had registered and paid for with them, but I am an investigative journalist. In the last 8 months, I have written more than 30 articles, interviewed more than 200 people who have been blatantly wronged by 1 & 1 Internet, talked to several consumer groups and interested attorneys, and worked with over 60 radio and TV stations on this story. Everyone has been very interested, and the investigation continues. If you have had an issue with the company, you can do the following make a difference, and get your justice:

1.)	File a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office at www.pa.gov, or call the investigator Madelaine Dakour directly at (215) 560-6790. They have already received a large number of complaints, and have escalated the investigation, so make sure and contact them.
2.)	File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau where they already have a completely Unsatisfactory rating by going to www.bbb.org
3.)	File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov
4.)	File a complaint with your state consumer advocacy group through the Attorney General’s office or Secretary of State’s office. Indiana’s is www.indianaconsumer.com
5.)	Explore your state’s legislative code and find out where they stand on mandatory arbitration clauses. The Federal Arbitration Act has been shot down by state courts if they find the 1 & 1 contract to be “unconscionable and without “mutuality as they offer nothing for the consumer. More and more courts are ruling in favor of consumers, especially with terms and conditions that allow for illegal activity. Breach of contract, fair trade laws, fraud, and consumer laws are the tip of the legal iceberg for 1 & 1.
6.)	I’m working with station affiliates of each of the major TV networks, and you can help by contacting your local station through the main sites at www.cbs.com, www.nbc.com, www.abc.com, and www.foxnews.com. Contact the investigative reporter, or simply send a news tip to the newsroom and they will follow up. Chances are, they are already aware of the major problems with the company.
7.)	Keep meticulous records!

My lawsuit is pending, and I’ve been inundated with law firms wanting to take on the abysmal business practices, or lack thereof, with 1 & 1. The blatant disregard for the consumers has gotten the attention of the legal community, media, and consumers all across the country and by banding together, we can get some justice. You do not have to succumb to their tactics!

Best wishes,

I was stupid enough to get my family name with the .fr from 1&1. Later found out that my pages were numbered, 1 to 100000000000000 if I wanted, but no names in france, just numbers. simple for them but tell someone to go to my site and hit page 345654323456.html and they will assume you have an odd sense of humor, or are just an idiot
